The youth student union filed a lawsuit against the University of California, accusing it of racial discrimination in admissions. They claim that the university prefers candidates of Latin American descent over American candidates of Asian descent.
Representatives of the student groups stated that the university applies double standards in evaluating applicants, which negatively affects Asian descent students. They accused the administration of unfairly considering ethnic backgrounds when evaluating candidates, ignoring their personal qualities and achievements.
One of the participants noted that such practices do more harm than good to students, creating an unequal playing field and depriving them of the opportunity to receive fair education. Hoping for the court's fairness, the student group insists on the cessation of discriminatory practices and the establishment of fair criteria for selecting students at the university.
